so big!!

My baby girl is growing up (insert sniffles here). I've spent part of this week lamenting on how big Brekka is getting. It shouldn't be sad I know but sometimes I can't help it. I have realized that things change, relationships change for good reasons. My love grows deeper for her every day, but of course it has to evolve in a a way or we could never progress. I can see how there must be some sort of disconnect as she grows and I let go a little at a time. For example, Brekka still sleeps in the little co-sleeper attached to my side of the bed. At some point I AM going to have to let her sleep in that cute polka dot crib her father lovingly set up for her before she was born. I just don't WANT to!

On the other hand there are SO many things I am excited for. I'm excited for her personality develop even more, and to witness all the trouble she'll cause with that spunky spirit. I'm excited to be there for her through all her ups and downs. I'm excited to watch her become even more beautiful every day.

Brekka has grown and developed a lot in the last couple of weeks. Her fine motor skills are improving SO much . Her little toys get a regular thrashing now that she can accurately grab onto them. Put your face up close to her and she'll grab your nose, smear her wet, slimy (from sucking on them) fingers around your cheeks, poke you in the eye, then reach up, grab your bangs and give them a good yank!

She tends to voice her opinion a little more LOUDLY than she has before, usually muffled with a thumb or two. She likes to throw her voice high then low, up down, up down, over and over; a girly sound we never heard from either of the boys.

Her hair is starting to fall out as the new grows in. I find baby hairs on her pillow.

Now when she gets excited her little legs just go a flyin' and she swings her arms up and down at the same time. She smiles her biggest smile, her tongue sticking out, nose crinkled and her double chin exposed. She's getting really good at smiling up at us through her lashes, chin turned towards her shoulder. Oh boy are we in for it..

I started reading books to her and she seems to really enjoy it. She stops kicking and and wiggling around, stares contently and reaches out to touch the pictures or objects with different textures. She's brilliant I tell ya.

And of course Brekka gets more opinionated (This is a good thing..) all the time. Like I've said before, she doesn't want to eat unless there's nothing going on and she's about to fall asleep. She will tolerate eating for five minutes here or there, refusing to give in unless it's nap time. When I try to encourage her to keep eating, try to get her to latch on, she bites down in frustration and screeches at me. OWIE that hurts! I hope this doesn't become a regular habit!

So now I'm ending this post, and will soon move on to the next one, which will be full of wonderful NEW experiences we share together. And oh MAN I am so grateful for it. No worries, we'll get her in that cute crib across the hall... eventually. :)
